Celtic begin life after Neil Lennon with 1-0 win over Aberdeen

Celtic brought the curtain down on a week of turmoil as interim boss John Kennedy got his tenure off to a winning start against Aberdeen.

The action on the park was the the calm after the storm at Celtic as the search for their new boss after the departure of Neil Lennon.

However, they club were able to close the gap on Rangers to 15 points and get Kennedy's temporary stint off to the perfect start.

Odsonne Edouard celebrated the early opener, which proved to be the winner, but in truth it could go down as a Tommy Hoban own goal after a cruel deflection off the Dons defender.

The visitors started the game brightly with a corner causing havoc in the opening exchanges, as Andy Considine first smashed the ball off the post before Ash Taylor’s header from point-blank range brought a great save out of Scott Bain.

In the first half, it could really have been more with surprise starter Partyk Klimala met an inch-perfect cross from Jonjoe Kenny in the six-yard box. However, the Polish striker put the ball wide of Joe Lewis’ post.

In the second half, Niall McGinn’s corner found the head of Ash Taylor at the back post.

The towering defender heads across goal, but Klimala is on the line to clear the danger.

It was a disappointing day for Aberdeen as they failed to close the gap on Hibs in third spot, after they slipped up against Motherwell.
