Celtic B's 'astonishing' injustice after referee howler handed Clyde Glasgow Cup penalty

Clyde claimed a dramatic late equaliser from the penalty spot in last night's Glasgow Cup draw with Celtic B.

But the 'astonishing' decision that handed them the chance to equalise has been laid bare after Celtic TV highlights revealed Hoops keeper Conor Hazard's foul on David Goodwillie - which saw Hazard sent off - was a clear distance outside the box when the foul was committed.

Referee Chris Gentles incensed Celtic with the 88th minute award, which Goodwillie dispatched to earn a 1-1 draw against Tommy McIntyre's side.

In the highlights, the commentator was left baffled, saying: "Goodwillie's went down. It was a clip from Hazard outside the box.

"He's went down dramatically and the referee has brandished a red card, quite astonishingly.

"And it looks like, even more astonishingly, he's given Clyde a penalty for a foul outside the box."

The Glasgow Cup sees the five Glasgow FA member clubs will play each other once in a round-robin format, with the top four teams in the league table proceeding to the semi-final stage.

The final will be held at the end of the season.

The Bully Wee will next play Rangers B away from home in February, followed by a clash at Partick Thistle and then Queen’s Park at in March.
