Celtic are taking their fans for a ride with Ange Postecoglou while Gers supporters are laughing their way to the title – Hotline

The Euros might be just a week away for Scotland now but there’s still plenty to ponder in the domestic game.

Celtic’s managerial search remains a hot topic and Rangers fans don’t seem too concerned Aussie boss Ange Postecoglou is on the way.

Gordon Roberson emailed: “We’ll be laughing all the way to Two in a Row. Big Angst second past the Postecoglou still isn’t in position whilst Rangers fans back their club to even greater times ahead with the upcoming share issue.

“Well done Gers forward thinking creating even greater bonds with the fans – everything Celtic aren’t doing.”

Gerry Milligan, Erskine, said: “Another week and no announcement, proof that there were no advanced talks. If that was the case they would have known about the coaching badges and the compensation for Yokohama would have been sorted, with transfer budgets and targets discussed. I’d guess he was only contacted last Friday when Howe reneged.”

Stephen Johnstone, Ardentinny, said: “Celtic are one of the biggest clubs in football yet they can’t get a manager. The SFA say Ange needs a coaching badge, it’s a farce.

"He is managing well without it on the continent. Next you will be saying he needs a Blue Peter badge to manage, leaving Celtic managerless and Ange jobless.”

Derek Cormack emailed: “Jimmy Miller claims that Celtic want to bend the rules to suit themselves regarding Postecoglou's lack of UEFA coaching licence because they require an exemption. Well, it will be the same exemption that Steven Gerrard required when he joined Rangers without the relevant coaching licence.”

Andy Adams, Kirkcaldy, said: “If Postecoglou is as good as they say we’ll all have egg on our faces. But he better start off on the front foot, or that noise you hear is the fat lady clearing her throat.”

Alfie Mullin, London, said: “Celtic should ask Disney to supply their new manager. Mickey Mouse would suffice. After all, it would seem to fit their remit.

“The current Celtic board look like they are wanting out with their cartoon exploits of late.

“They are running scared of Rangers.”

Alan Clark emailed: “The new Celtic manager is touted to turn them into Barcelona, but might just turn them into Brechin. The jury is well out on this one. His appointment smacks of desperation, no manager with any proven track record in real football wants the gig.”

Neil Lennon spoke about his Hoops reign at the weekend but some Celtic fans were less than impressed.

Paul McCormack, Coatbridge, said: “Not only has Lennon personally failed miserably as manager in the biggest season for decades, it’s now the fans fault.

“Our previous manager lifted jaded looking players to new levels, during his time these same players went backwards rapidly.

“Lennon has blotted his copybook big time with fans.”

Killie fans are worried after Kyle Lafferty slammed the club after contract talks broke down.

Tom Paterson, Falkirk, said: “What’s going on at Rugby Park ? We get a guy who can score the goals we need for a quick return and then won’t go the extra mile wages wise to keep him.

“If what he says is true then I am disgusted with Jamie Fowler and the board. They should have a quick change of mind and get him signed or we could be stuck in the lower league for years.”

Finally some Euros chat as William Laing emailed: “At the upcoming games at Hampden there are to be no food and drink kiosks to be open, because of social distancing problems, despite some fans having to be in the ground three hours before kickoff yet UEFA have stalls open to sell their merchandise. It doesn’t make sense.”

Not much does these days William.
