Celtic are only winning because of referee pressure and an independent inquiry is needed NOW - Hotline

Celtic got their mitts on the first trophy of the season but rival supporters reckon Ange Postecoglou’s men are getting a helping hand from Scotland’s officials.

The Hoops managed to see off Hibs but there was a late penalty shout for the Easter Road men and some callers believe it’s down to Parkhead chairman Ian Bankier putting pressure on refs.

James Napier, Edinburgh, said: “Every game now Celtic are benefiting from referee decisions. It’s keeping them in the title race and has now won them a cup.

“There has to be an independent inquiry. My team were never winning that final. For John Beaton to miss that push in the box at the end was incredible. Sickened.”

Chris Lowe, Yoker , said: “Another week and again all the game changing decisions go the way of Celtic again, that’s every single week since their chairman raised it at their AGM.

“I think you need to go back to Jorge Cadete 20 years ago to find the last game changer that went against them.

“Their intimidation tactics are clearly working.”

Andy Brown emailed: “There's always talk about playing the Celtic way but what does that mean?

"I think it means you constantly complain about every decision that goes against you rightly or wrongly.

“You put constant pressure on the officials. They threaten the officials putting them under so much pressure they are scared to make a decision against them.”

Rangers fans had to watch their foes secure silverware but they are not exactly shaking in their boots ahead of the New Year derby clash.

Alfie Mullin, London, said: “It’s good to see that the Celtic fans are as delusional as ever. I welcome their over confidence for the New Year game. It just means I'll be wetting myself laughing again, when Rangers put them back in their place.”

Graham Roberts, Edinburgh, said: “I nearly choked on my Sunday roast watching the over exuberant celebrations by the Celtic players after winning the tin cup on Sunday.

“You'd have thought they had just won their 55th league title.

“After such a barren spell and no likelihood of winning anything in the near future I guess any cup is worth celebrating.”

Celtic fans are simply thrilled Postecoglou’s reign is up and running and reckon Final hero Kyogo is on his way to legendary status.

Kenny Wilson, Moffat, said: “Well done to Ange Postecoglou and his team showing that winning a trophy after three years is an achievement by winning his first in a matter of months.

“Got the rub of the green with the penalty decision but were deserved winners. But another injury and the squad I fear isn’t good enough to win the league.”

Stephen Mulhern Dumbarton, said: “If there was any more evidence required that Celtic have their finest signing since Henrik Larsson that was confirmed on Sunday.

“Postecoqlou has already put Steven Gerrard's of one trophy in three years to embarrassment by winning his first trophy at the first attempt.”

It’s not just Scottish refs in the firing line, after England captain Harry Kane got away with a shocker on Scotland skipper Any Robertson when Spurs and Liverpool met at the weekend.

Tommy Turner emailed: “Once again referees in England turning a blind eye to the recklessness of their international captain in domestic football.

“His tackle on Andy Robertson was a shocker. If Robb’s standing foot is planted, that's a leg breaker without a doubt.”

Let’s just be grateful Andy’s okay.
