Celtic are about to unleash the millions for nine in a row and no team of free transfers will stop us – Hotline

SFA president Rod Petrie might not be everyone’s cup of tea but there was some support for the Hibs chairman.

There’s plenty of snipers as well, but it might be best to start off on a positive for the new top man at Hampden.

John Scott, Grassmoor, said: “The SFA is a business and that’s one area Rod Petrie excels at. The silence was deafening at the announcement that yet again Hibs were awarded gold across the board by the SFA licence awards, second only to Celtic and Rod Petrie should get credit for that.

“Petrie finished rebuilding the stadium, built the training ground and hired the fantastic Leeann Dempster. The SFA are lucky to have him.”

But George Gray, Lochgelly, said: “The SFA is a clique and I would like to know what Petrie will bring. He reminds me of a guy I knew in the Air Force. He said nothing and just twirled his moustache as well.”

But Tom Gregg, Edinburgh, said: “Bonnyrigg Rose fans don’t know what league they will be playing in next year. There’s talk of the under 20s playing in the Lowland League but at the moment the under 21s have nowhere to go. Petrie and Ian Maxwell need to sort it as this is no way to help develop young players.”

As for the Scotland team though, Davy Matson emailed: “ Ryan Fraser wants stayaway fans to return but will the stayaway players even turn up for the games?

“Fans pay good money, will the players agree to play for nothing? Don’t hold your breath.”

Tom Leckenby emailed: “Donkeys will never become racehorses. Steve Clarke is on to a hiding to nothing there’s not a manager anywhere in football capable of turning Scotland around.”

Stephen Johnstone, Ardentinney, said: “Watching Scotland is like peeling an onion. It both ends in tears. Scotland were like lambs to the slaughter in Belgium and James Bond couldn’t save us in Russia.”

Steven Richardson emailed: “No matter who the manager, Scotland will never qualify for a major championships because in the past Scotland had five or six players who would get into any top side. Apart from Andy Robertson, the rest are not good enough."

But Bill Park, Bathgate, said: “The consolation for Scotland is they didn’t get a drubbing from Belgium.

"With the two best players in the English Premier League Eden Hazard, and Kevin de Bruyne in their side Belgium are deserving of their No. 1 ranking in the world.

“As the old cliché says it will be a learning experience for Steve Clarke, which I am sure he will take on board.”

John Davidson, Armadale, said: “ David Turnbull’s £3m move to Celtic will boost the Motherwell bank balance. For a graduate through their youth system, it’s a brilliant bit of business for the Well.”

Ian Johnson, Wishaw, said: “I’d like to congratulate David on his first Scotland call-up.

“I hate seeing my team’s players signing for the Old Firm but it was an offer Motherwell couldn’t refuse.”

Jimmy Murray, Edinburgh, said: “It’s such a shame Rodgers is not still at Celtic. He would have made Turnbull a fantastic player. Lennon will ruin him.”

Paddy Gowans emailed: “Here we go again, kidding the fans we’re going after £10m-rated Christopher Jullien. I’ve more chance of becoming the next Celtic manager than they have of opening the biscuit tin and spending that kind of money.”

But Gordon Ashey, Ayr, said: “This is the moment Celtic have been saving the cash for. Lennon’s Hibs played the best football in Scotland before he lost all his best players and we are about to unleash the millions for the double Nine in a row and no team of free transfers will stop us.”

On to Rangers and Robert Livingstone, Palm Beach, said: “Lawrence Shankland from Ayr Utd would be a good signing for Rangers. Certainly knows how to score goals and is a young age with a good level head. As a free agent it would be bargain for the club.”
