Celtic and the AGM domestic dispute set to test Ange Postecoglou's 'beautiful house' building project

When Rangers are in difficulty Celtic are obliged to make their rivals’ problems even more severe if they can.

But that ‘nice and beautiful house’ that Ange Postecoglou is in the act of building at Celtic Park is set to be the scene of a domestic dispute on Wednesday morning at the club’s AGM.

The look of disbelief on Ange’s face when last Sunday’s game at Dundee was interrupted by a fans’ tennis-ball protest was there for all to see.

The man who wants no distractions to get in the way of his re-building work will need to put up with another argumentative interlude concerning matters that have nothing to do with him.

The only way the Celtic board could take the heat out of the AGM would be to put Kyogo, Jota and Abada at the top table as proof of being able to do something right.

Even then that might not be enough to placate shareholders attending what could be thought of as the Day of Reckoning over the events of last season.

The dream of 10 in a row became a nightmare.

Neil Lennon was sacked. But too late.

Peter Lawwell left his post as CEO but continues to wield an influence according to his accusers.

Dominic McKay arrived as CEO and then quickly left after alleged differences of opinion.

Eddie Howe says he couldn’t take the Celtic job because he wasn’t allowed to bring his backroom staff with him to Glasgow.

Now supporters group The Celtic Trust are believed to be asking shareholders for proxy votes in an attempt to remove Ian Bankier as club chairman.

And all of this against the backdrop of unrest created by the proposal to appoint Police Scotland’s Bernard Higgins as Celtic’s security advisor.

Ange is unlikely to have seen, or heard, anything like it when he takes his seat in the Kerrydale Suite.

The people who put the public in Celtic PLC want an answer for everything.

There is a movement for change at the top inside a club accused of letting complacency get in the way of delivering what was regarded as the Holy Grail of 10 successive titles.

Postecoglou will instinctively know that internal strife and a disconnect between the club and elements of the fan base can not assist him in his job of making the team successful.

Maybe when they get to the section marked Any Other Competent Business they should let Ange address the audience in his own distinctive manner.

He could point out that disharmony, if it gathers pace, could trip up an innocent bystander. Him.
