Celtic and St Mirren fans warned of delays ahead of Scottish Cup clash after fire

Football fans heading to Celtic park for the Hoops' bout with St Mirren in the Scottish Cup today are being warned that delays could be likely following a fire at a nearby recycling centre.

Emergency services rushed to Nuneaton Street in Bridgeton on Wednesday after they received reports of an early morning 'bin fire'.

Crews are still trying to manage the blaze which has resulted in road closures remaining in place.

Access to the nearby Emirates Arena car park is possible, however, there is no access available from London Road.

Supporters of Celtic and St Mirren are being urged to plan their routes before heading to the match which is due to kick-off at 5.30pm.

Police said: "We continue to support the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service as it manages the fire in Nuneaton Street. As a result road closures in the area remain in place.

"Access to the Emirates Arena car park will be available via The Clyde Gateway from Dalmarnock Road – please note there is no access from London Road.

"We understand the road closures will be impacting on the local community and we appreciate their co-operation.

"At present events scheduled for Friday, 10 February at the Emirates Arena and Saturday, 11 February at Celtic Park will go ahead as planned. Please plan your routes to and from the venues accordingly."
