Celtic and Scottish Government Dubai correspondence released as initial Gran Canaria plan is detailed

The full correspondence between Celtic and the Scottish Government over their trip to Dubai has been released.

The two clashed in January after Celtic returned a positive test on arrival back in Scotland and 15 others were deemed close contacts and forced to miss two games.

Former Hoops boss Neil Lennon was left fizzing by the incident and insisted Celtic were being treated differently to everyone else..

The club came under heavy fire for travelling to Dubai for the training camp at the height of the coronavirus pandemic and now it can be revealed they initially wanted to fly to Gran Canaria for the break.

Letters and emails exchanged by the two parties are heavily redacted but give an insight into the decision making around heading to Dubai.

They also discuss the decision to deem Ryan Christie a close contact following international duty back in October as well as other incidents.

It also gave full details of Celtic’s plans in Dubai to keep the team away from the rest of the population.

It includes how many people were in the travelling party with 56 people heading abroad, and revealed they had taken over six floors in the hotel.

They also planned a boat trip where they would go and have food, as well as two other trips out of the hotel to privately booked hotels.
