Celtic and Rangers training return: When players from each club are expected to be back

Celtic players are set to return to training in small groups from Thursday, with Rangers expected back at the weekend.

Scottish top flight clubs have been given the green light to return to training from 11 June, although only three clubs are currently in a position to do so this week. Ross County players are also set to return on Thursday, according to Sky Sports.

All clubs will be required to adhere to strict health and safety protocols, with social distancing and regular testing involved.

Hibs are scheduled to return next Monday (15 June) along with Motherwell, Aberdeen and Dundee United. Other clubs could return later in the month, ahead of the Premiership campaign getting underway on the first weekend of August.

Celtic boss Neil Lennon outlined the work going on behind the scenes as the club prepares to welcome players back.

Speaking to Celtic TV at the weekend, he said: "The players are back in next week. We start doing the medical side of things on Monday and Tuesday, we'll all get tested on Wednesday and hopefully we can start in small groups on Thursday.

"It'll be groups of five. So we'll have two groups in the morning, two groups at lunchtime and two groups in the afternoon.

"We'll get to see them all. We haven't seen them in a while. You tend to miss them, you miss how close they are. That atmosphere around the place.

"Of course there are certain protocols. They can't go inside the building, they have to do their stuff outside and that's fine. We're just delighted we can have some sort of semblance of training and we have a target of the first week of August to start back."
