Celtic and Rangers stars in Europa League best XI for dazzling group stage displays

Celtic and Rangers have provided a big boost to the Scottish coefficient by reaching the last 32 of the Europa League.

The progress of the two Glasgow clubs means there's now a very good chance the Premiership will have two Champions League places from 2021-22.

And the performances of the two clubs have been so good that players from each team have made it into a group stage best XI.

The statistics website Whoscored has put together the best team from the group phase, with Celtic 's Fraser Forster in goal.

He conceded only four goals in five appearances and made 19 saves, leading to him being named the best goalkeeper.

Forster is joined in the XI by his team-mate Ryan Christie , who managed three goals but also made 2.6 tackles per game and 2.2 key passes per game.

The website awards players a score out of 10 for every game and the Scotland international averaged 7.67 across the group stage.

However, even that impressive tally was surpassed by Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos.

The Colombian scored six goals as the Gers finished second in Group H, a number made all the more impressive by the fact his team scored just eight in total.

Morelos also provided one assist and had just one game where he didn't either score or set up one.

He was granted an averaged rating of 7.77.

Bruno Fernandes of Sporting was rated the best player of the group stage with his five goals and three assists earning a rating of 8.40.

Whoscored's Europa League best XI:

Forster; Widmer, Trauner, Wiesinger, Escudero; El Haddadi, Bruno Fernandes, Christie, Saka; Morelos, Greenwood
