Celtic and Rangers Sky Sports midweek blackout forces fans to fork out again as huge clashes snubbed by TV

The top of the Scottish Premiership table is as tight as it has been for many years after 10 games played.

Only four points separate the top four sides in the league as we prepare to complete the first full round of fixtures.

And that has set it up nicely for a full midweek card of action on Wednesday as teams battle it out for top spot.

Yet Sky Sports subscribers won’t be able to see a single ball kicked by the league’s exclusive broadcaster after another blackout.

That means armchair Celtic fans will have to fork out £15 for Hibs TV to see if Ange Postecoglou can end their seven-year wait for al league victory against at Easter Road.

It comes after Hoops legions not attending Fir Park also had to pay £12 the previous week to watch their trip to Motherwell.

Sky Sports became the home of Scottish football when they agreed an exclusive five-year broadcasting deal worth around £160 million.

SPFL chief executive Neil Doncaster said at the time: “This deal demonstrates Sky Sports' commitment to showcasing the pinnacle of Scottish football.”

However, fans north of the border will be offered successive nights of EFL Cup this midweek with Arsenal hosting Leeds United on the box and Liverpool’s trip to Deepdale to face Preston.

And that is despite Hibs hosting Celtic while Aberdeen travel to champions Rangers and Hearts - who could also finish the night at the summit - facing St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park.
