Celtic and Rangers rough treatment comparison as Premiership's dirtiest team revealed

A week almost never goes by in the Scottish Premiership without some controversy over refereeing - with much of it coming down to rough physical treatment that goes unpunished.

Just a few days ago Jeremie Frimpong was on the end of a nasty one from Motherwell's Devante Cole, with referee Andrew Dallas choosing to show only a yellow card.

But which team is most likely to get a kicking of a weekend? And which is most likely to be dishing out the treatment? In other words, which are the 'dirtiest' and 'cleanest' teams in the top flight?

While Celtic and Rangers fans would no doubt both say their players are subjected to batterings on a weekly basis they come in firmly in mid-table when it comes to fouls suffered.

Neil Lennon's men are fouled marginally more often than the Ibrox outfit but it seems Kilmarnock and Hibs are on the end of the most rough treatment.

The capital club lead the way with 14.6 fouls per game, with St Mirren on the other end at 11.4.

Less surprisingly Rangers and Celtic are 12th and 11th respectively in terms of fouls committed.

With both of Glasgow's giants enjoying around 63 per cent of possession on average there's simply less opportunity for committing fouls.

Livingston, Aberdeen and Ross County share the lead with 14.9 fouls per game with the Staggies taking top spot by virtue of their 28 yellow cards and three reds.

Check out the breakdown below.
