Celtic and Rangers pre-season tournament confirmed as Hoops' PSG date is revealed

Celtic and Rangers have confirmed their place in a pre-season tournament in France.

Both Old Firm clubs will prepare for the new Premiership season with a friendly against hosts Lyon at the Groupama Stadium. Ligue 1 side Nice will also feature in the competition.

The games will go ahead on July 16 and 18, but it has yet to be decided which Glasgow side Lyon will go up against first.

Celtic are also set to play against PSG in the Parc Des Princes on July 22.

Lyon boss Rudi Garcia confirmed the news, he said: "It's not been easy to arrange preparation friendlies and we have opted for eight weeks to prepare for the new season.

"That will include a tournament at Groupama stadium against Rangers and Celtic, with Nice being the other team.

"The thinking behind this was it was necessary to find quality opponents in leagues that have not resumed.

"We need to prepare both for the start of the new season and the Champions League game against Juventus."
