Celtic and Rangers in ticket row as Ibrox club pull plug on offer to Hoops fans

Celtic and Rangers are at odds after a row over tickets led to the Ibrox club refusing to offer any away briefs for next weekend’s game.

The first Old Firm derby of the season takes place in nine days time and Celtic were due to get 700 tickets.

But Rangers pulled the plug on that offer after the Hoops were unable to guarantee the same offer for the New Year derby.

The Daily Record report that is led to Rangers being unwilling to go ahead with the current plans to let 700 supporters into the away end.

That’s despite the tickets already being printed up and sent to Celtic Park for distribution ahead of the clash on Sunday, August 29.

It adds a further edge to the game which is set to be Ange Postecoglou’s first taste of the fixture.

And it is also likely to bring an end to plans for the two clubs to hold discussions over a return to the previous ticket allocations.

In the past, both clubs got around 7000 away supporters at games but that was cut to just 850 in the last two seasons.

Steven Gerrard's side won three out of four league derbies last season, with a 4-1 win at Ibrox in May the last of those.
