Celtic and Rangers hit with UEFA fines as Europa League 'throwing of objects' punished

Both Celtic and Rangers have been hit with fines by UEFA following incident during their Europa League clashes.

The Parkhead side have been have been fined a total of £32,587 following incidents in the away trip to Bayer Leverkusen.

They have to pay UEFA £25,963 for the throwing of objects during the clash.

The club will also have to pay a further £6,624 for the lighting of fireworks during at the Bay Arena.

Leverkusen have also been sanctioned £4,701 for the throwing of objects during the November fixture.

Across the city, Rangers have also landed in hot water following the game with Sparta Prague at Ibrox.

A fine of £4,701 has been handed to the club by European football's decision makers for the throwing of objects.

Both clubs have already been sanctioned this season for incidents on European nights involving supporters.

Two Celtic fan groups slammed UEFA with a Countdown-themed banner slamming the decision that caused their Europa League clash against Fenercvaros to kick off at 3.30pm on a Tuesday, leading to a €15,000 fine from the governing body.

Rangers were sanctioned for incidents during the away clash with Brondby, with the Danes hit heavily for the issues with crowd control.
