Celtic and Rangers handed unusual Premier Sports Cup TV slots as they seek Hampden return

Celtic and Rangers have learned the TV slots they will be in for the Premier Sports Cup quarter-final section next month.

The Hoops are the holders of this competition and both teams from Glasgow will play their matches on the same day, October 19th. Celtic are away at Motherwell and begin at a peculiar time of 6:15pm following their 4-1 romp over Ross County, which will prove a challenge for many working fans looking to make kick-off at Fir Park. It will take place at this time due to Premier Sports - the tournament sponsors and primary broadcaster - having other contractual commitments with no other arrangements possible.

Scottish Cup holders Rangers meanwhile host Dundee at Ibrox after sweeping past Queen of the South at the last 16 phase. That begins at 8:15pm, which will be a bother for away fans, with the game potentially going on until as late as between 10:30pm and 11:00pm if it goes to extra-time.

That will be far from ideal for Rangers fans who are travelling from afar for the game and Dundee fans travelling around two hours from their city.

Partick Thistle take on Aberdeen on the 19th in one of the other quarter-final ties and Kilmarnock host Dundee United a day prior to Celtic and Rangers' battles.

It has been a weekend of debate in Glasgow after the Hoops stormed past their rivals 4-0 in the first Premiership derby of the season.
