Celtic and Rangers fans locked out as Lyon use pre-season glamour tournament to test government 'experiment'

Lyon will invite up to 4,500 fans to attend their mini-tournament featuring Rangers and Celtic later this month.

But the Ligue 1 side will NOT allow fans from Scotland to gain access to the Groupama Stadium.

The big two will face Lyon and Nice on dates between July 16-18 but they will not play each other in France.

And Lyon are in the final stages of confirming a limited amount of their fans will be allowed in their 59,186-capacity ground for the friendlies.

The fans will be allowed in as an experiment ahead of the new Ligue 1 season, under the rules drawn up by the French Government.

But any hopes Celtic and Rangers fans had of attending the games will be dashed, with Lyon only allowing club members to buy tickets and there will be strict checks to ensure tickets don't fall into the wrong hands.

Celtic are also set to play against PSG at the Parc des Princes on July 21, but that is due to be played behind closed doors as Neil Lennon looks to test his charges against one of Europe's best.
