Rangers and Celtic fans have received a Euro travel boost after the Scottish Government allowed the use of private sector PCR tests to fly overseas to green and amber countries.
In an update on Friday, the Scottish government confirmed that travellers could now take private PCR tests to ensure they were Covid-free and able to travel, rather than being required to use tests provided by the official government contracted supplier.
At £68 per test, the restriction added to the cost of those jetting off on holiday to green and amber zone countries.
However, accepted tests can now include cheaper alternatives, which is good news for Old Firm fans hoping to see their teams on the continent this season.
Fans have not been able to officially travel to Euro ties since travel restrictions were implemented at the beginning of the pandemic.
Both Rangers and Celtic negotiated their Europa League play-off round second leg ties successfully to reach the group stages.
Ange Postecoglou’s side saw off AZ Almaar in the Netherlands, losing 2-1 on the night but winning the tie 4-3 on aggregate.
They've been drawn alongside Bayer Leverkusen, Real Bets and Ferencvaros in Group G.
Steven Gerrard’s men drew 0-0 in Yerevan with Alashkert having beaten them 1-0 at Ibrox..
Their reward was a spot in Group A with Lyon, Sparta Prague and Brondby.
Now both are through, fans should find it slightly easier and cheaper to make travel arrangements and organise tests before setting off.
Germany and Denmark are currently on Scotland's green travel list with France, Spain, Hungary and Czech Republic all amber designated countries.
The changes to laws around tests will come into effect early next month.
