Celtic and Rangers fans face soaring flight prices after Europa League draws

Football fans desperate to watch their teams in key Europa League clashes saw flight prices rocket within minutes of the draw yesterday.

Celtic will meet FC Copenhagen in Denmark in the last 32 while Rangers take on Braga in Portugal.

But supporters vented their fury after seeing how airlines were quick to cash in on the army of supporters making plans to follow their teams abroad. Hoops fans will head for Denmark for their clash on February 20 before meeting the side at home in Glasgow a week later.

The fastest way to Copenhagen is with KLM via Amsterdam in just under four hours – but last night the airline was quoting £656 for return flights leaving the day before the game and returning the day after.

The first leg for Rangers will take place at Ibrox on Thursday, February 20, with fans then travelling to the Municipal Stadium in Braga on Wednesday, February 26.

Most fans will likely fly into Porto. The fastest way there is £609 with British Airways via London airports in under six hours.
