Celtic and Rangers 'eye' Patrick Berg transfer as midfielder attracts Scottish interest

Celtic and Rangers are both reportedly keeping tabs on Norwegian midfielder Patrick Berg.

The Bodo/Glimt star has impressed at the Norwegian outfit and has 18 months left on his deal at the club.

And reports in his homeland suggest that either Celtic or Rangers want to take him to Scotland.

The 23-year-old is also interesting a team in the Netherlands and could have to make a decision on his future soon.

According to VG, Berg could be available for as little as £1.2m in the summer.

That would be viewed as a bargain for the holding midfielder, who already has four caps for his country.

Berg comes from a footballing family with his grandfather, dad and two uncles all playing for Bodo/Glimt.

He made his debut for the outfit as a 17-year-old and has since one on to clock up 134 appearances for them, with six so far this season.

Both Ange Postecoglou and Steven Gerrard are in the market for midfield players this summer.

Rangers are expected to have to field bids for the likes of Glen Kamara while Celtic are short on numbers in that area too after Scott Brown’s exit.
