Hearts star Andy Halliday has issued an impassioned defence of Steve Clarke - and reckons Celtic and Rangers can take a leaf out of Scotland's book.
Clarke 's side have won four games on the spin to reignite their World Cup qualification charge.
But the most recent win, 1-0 away to the Faroe Islands, came after a ropey performance in the North Atlantic.
Lyndon Dykes' late strike spared our blushes and moved us to within one win of a World Cup playoff.
But Halliday wasn't interested in the criticism as he pointed to games this season where Rangers and Celtic have played well but failed to win.
He says he'd much rather the shoe was on the other foot - just as it was for Scotland in Torshavn.
He said on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard: "Look at Rangers at home to Motherwell. They dominated the play, but drew 1-1.
"Celtic against Livingston, they dominated the play, they lost 1-0.
"You'd rather play poorly and win than play well and lose.
"If we'd played brilliantly and drawn, we'd be sitting here saying it wasn't good enough."
Scotland will face Moldova next month knowing a win can secure second place - and the likelihood of a seeded spot for the World Cup playoff.
That would mean a home tie against one of the worst four second-placed sides or one of the Nations League group winners.
