Celtic and Rangers B teams learn their fate in draw for the revamped SPFL Trust Trophy

Celtic and Rangers have learned their fate following this afternoon's draw in the new-look SPFL Trust Trophy.

Formerly known as the Challenge Cup, the competition has been given a makeover following the SPFL Trust's new sponsorship from Hearts benefactor James Anderson.

And with Glasgow's big two playing their B teams in the Lowland League in the forthcoming season, both were included in today's first and second-round draws, which were regionalised and seeded.

In the first draw for the South Section, the Hoops were drawn at home to Annan Athletic, whilst the Gers were pitted away to Dumbarton.

In the draw for the second round of the South Section, the winner of Celtic B and Annan will be at home to Greenock Morton, whilst the winners of Rangers B will be at home to Ayr United.

The first round fixtures are scheduled to take place on the weekend of August 10 and 11, whilst the second round ties will take place on the weekend of 4 and 5 September with Rangers colts set to play their home games at Dumbarton’s C&G Systems Stadium, and with Celtic staging theirs at Airdrie's Penny Cars Stadium.
