Celtic and Rangers away fans WILL return to derby clash this season reveals Ibrox director Stewart Robertson

Rangers managing director Stewart Robertson has revealed there WILL be away allocations at the remaining two clashes between the Govan side and Celtic.

But there will be no return to the thousands-strong away supports seen in years gone by.

Visiting fans have been shut out of Glasgow's biggest game this season in a row that involved Covid rules.

Back in 2018 the original allocations of around 7,000 at both grounds were slashed as Rangers opted to offer Celtic just 800 tickets moving forward.

But this season's impasse began when Celtic could not guarantee Rangers fans would have any allocation at all for the second meeting, due to the existence of 'red zones' at the time.

That led to Robertson and Co withdrawing the tickets for the first meeting between the two sides last year on 29 August at Ibrox and it was another home fans only affair at Celtic Park earlier this month.

But speaking to Sky Sports, Robertson revealed there will be visiting fans back at the remaining two Scottish Premiership fixtures.

He said: "There will be away allocations in the next two games.

"Because of the Covid situation we had back in August, the two clubs got together and agreed that we wouldn't have away fans.

"Because we had red zones, we weren't sure what the situation was going to be for that period of time.

"So there will be away fans for the two games remaining.

"No, that (return to old allocations) won't be happening this season. It'll be the allocation we've had for the last couple of years.

"And going into next year and succeeding years after that, as far as I can see, it will still be at that level."
