Celtic and Rangers among "several clubs" interested in signing Airdrie star Thomas Robert

Airdrieonians could face a fight to hold on to star man Thomas Robert after reports Celtic and Rangers are among "several clubs" interested in signing the Frenchman.

Robert, the son of former Newcastle United star Laurent, arrived at New Broomfield in the summer from Montpellier and the 20-year-old winger has made a big impact.

He has quickly become a real fan favourite with his dazzling displays for the Diamonds, scoring three goals in 11 appearances.

And according to The Scottish Sun, both sides of the Old Firm have been "keeping tabs" on the midfielder along with the likes of capital outfits Hibernian and Hearts.

The report claims Celtic's head of recruitment Nick Hammond watched the against East Fife earlier this month and Hoops scout Tosh McKinlay took in his performance against Montrose in yesterday's 1-0 defeat.

The Diamonds will now be bracing themselves for clubs coming in for their prized asset when the transfer window opens in January.
