Celtic and Liverpool transfer links don't bother Hamilton star as he responds to shock speculation

Jamie Hamilton says Celtic transfer speculation around him is of no concern - as his focus is on helping Accies get back to winning ways.

The defender featured for Stuart Taylor's side as they suffered a 1-0 Championship loss to Dunfermline. Defeat still leaves them sixth but the gap between them and the Pars - who are bottom - now stands at six points.

Hamilton has been linked to big clubs before but fresh reports this week have speculated that Celtic and Premier League giants Liverpool want him.

A host of other big English sides are also reportedly on his trail but head coach Taylor has reduced the rumours to 'pub chat.'

The academy product says he doesn't read much of the rumours, and it isn't a bother to him as a result: "Personally, I don't look into a lot of it as I play for Hamilton.

"I'm at Hamilton right now so I am not looking too much into anything else.

"Hamilton is all that I am focusing on. It doesn't really bother me too much as I don't read a lot of it. If the gaffer is calling it pub chat, then that's all it is."

Accies were second best to Dunfermline at East End Park and Hamilton knows his side need to improve after a run of one defeat in six games.

While they won't reinvent the wheel to get back to winning ways against Ayr United next week, Hamilton says winning their battles will be key.

He said: "It's a very disappointing defeat for us. We wanted to win this to keep building on the run we had been on. But we are all gutted that we couldn't get the win.

"I felt as if we were off it everywhere. It wasn't good enough as a whole team. We will need to get out in the next game and do better, 100%, in the next game.

"That wasn't good enough. Every team is capable of winning in this league. That's how it is. Every team wants to win but we feel we are good enough to beat anyone we come up against.

"We are all as one. We were second to everything which is something we need to work on. We need to be coming our the traps. It's just disappointing we didn't win or at the least get a draw.

"We are still confident in how we want to play and we won't change that - it's our style. We go out and try to win every game. We want points from every game and we don't want this to happen."
