Celtic and Liverpool links to Hamilton star 'pub chat', says Accies boss

Hamilton Accies boss Stuart Taylor believes reports linking Jamie Hamilton with the likes of Liverpool and Celtic are 'pub chat' but admits he wouldn't be surprised if clubs were interested in his star defender.

A report yesterday linked the 19-year-old with a host of top clubs down south including Jurgen Klopp's Reds, Burnley, Brighton and Newcastle, while Celtic, Aberdeen and Hibs were also said to be monitoring the defender.

Asked if he was aware of anyone contacting the club about a move for Hamilton, Taylor said: "Nobody has spoken to me directly, but that would be normal. Other clubs don't always go to the manager.

"But I've certainly not spoken to Allan [Maitland, the club chairman] in the last 24 hours about outgoings.

"I do expect there will be interest in Jamie and I expect there will be interest in a lot of our players, especially the younger ones.

"Down south is more of a common market, if you want to call it that, where they want young players to go and work on.

"But going on websites it's very easy to punch in names of teams and players, and it goes under the category of what I'd call 'pub chat'.

"Nobody can control it. A lot of the time people will go: let's see how far this one spins."

Last season Hamilton spent three days on trial with English Premier League side Brighton, where ex-Accies boss Billy Reid is assistant manager to Graham Potter.
