Celtic and Boli Bolingoli face punishment as SPFL and SFA confirm coronavirus disciplinary measures

Celtic and Boli Bolingoli are set to be punished by league chiefs after the left back's coronavirus breach.

The SPFL and SFA outlined new measures on Thursday after the left back failed to quarantine on his return from Spain.

Eight Aberdeen players, who have been heavily fined by the club, were also forced to isolate after visiting a pub on the opening weekend of the Premiership season, as two tested positive for Covid-19.

The new disclipinary measures were yet to be confirmed, but the joint reponse group has now released their new procedures, with players and clubs both facing sanctions.

The SFA will now look into the 'Aberdeen 8' and Bolingoli following their actions. A hearing date has been set for August 28.

On top of that, Celtic and Aberdeen could also face punishment from the SPFL.

A statement read: "Following investigation, the SPFL has opened separate disciplinary proceedings against each of Aberdeen FC and Celtic FC for alleged breaches of the SPFL’s COVID-19 – Requirements and Testing Regulation.

There will be no further comment pending the outcome of these disciplinary proceedings."
