Celtic agree new contract with Northern Ireland underage midfielder Ben Wylie

Northern Ireland underage midfielder Ben Wylie has committed his future to Celtic after agreeing a new contract with the Glasgow club until 2024.

The Old Firm giants, who signed the Ballymena native in the summer of 2018, confirmed a new deal for the 19-year-old on Wednesday.

And on his Instagram account, Wylie welcomed the development while thanking his agents Brian Adair and former Northern Ireland winger Keith Gillespie.

He posted…

Wylie, a creative midfielder with an eye for assists and goals, has been a regular in Celtic’s B team this season, progressing to the reserves set-up after impressing with the U17s.

He spent the second half of last season on loan with hometown club Ballymena United where he made 17 appearances in the Danske Bank Premiership.

In a recent interview on the Celtic website, Wylie said he has “loved every minute” of his time with the Hoops.

He also said his main target is to continue growing as a player and eventually graduate into a first team player.

He said: “As a footballer, my aim is to go to the highest levels that I can and just push myself as much as possible.

“All in all I just want to be a player at Celtic and break through to the first team and do well for the club.”
