Celtic have agreed a fee of €2.5m (£2.1m) to sign Georgios Giakoumakis.
The striker was the Eredivisie’s top goalscorer last season and VVV-Venlo will also have a sell on clause as part of the deal.
Werder Bremen also want to sign him but Celtic have now agreed a fee and Ange Postecoglou will hope to add him to his squad.
The Daily Record report Celtic will now look to agree personal terms for him, with Postecoglou already holding talks with the striker.
He’s explained the role the Greece international will have in his team but Celtic face a lot of competition for him.
As well as Werder Bremen, there are other offers from a cross Europe as well as a good financial offer from the Qatar Stars League.
Bremen want to take him to Germany to fire them back to the Bundesliga after relegation last season.
It’s believed they’ve already offered them a bigger offer than what is on the table from Celtic, but the higher level at Celtic Park could persuade him to move to Glasgow.
Giakoumakis netted 26 goals in 30 games for VVV last season despite them finishing second bottom of the Eredivisie.
Postecoglou already has Kyogo Furuhashi and Odsonne Edouard for his attacking options, as well as Leigh Griffiths and Albian Ajeti.
