Celtic 'agree deal to sign' Vasilis Barkas as Neil Lennon moves to strengthen squad

Celtic are believed to have agreed a deal to sign Vasilis Barkas.

Neil Lennon has been in the market for a keeper, with Fraser Forster's loan spell having ended and Craig Gordon returning for a second spell at Hearts.

The 26-year-old has been capped 10 times by Greece, and has made 111 appearances for AEK Athens.

STV Sport reporter Ronnie Charters tweeted : "Celtic have agreed a deal to sign AEK Athens goalkeeper Vasilis Barkas. The 26-year-old is expected to sign a four-year deal and could be concluded in the coming days."

Neil Lennon's team continued their preparations for the new season today with a 3-1 friendly win over Hibs at Celtic Park.

Karamoko Dembele equalised for the Hoops in the first-half, with Patryk Klimala scoring twice in the second period to secure victory.

Leigh Griffiths came off the bench with half an hour remaining and played a key role in Klimala's first.

He'll be hoping to force his way into the squad with just six days remaining before Celtic begin their defence of the Premiership title at Celtic Park against Hamilton Accies.
