Celtic 'agree' Carl Starfelt fee with defender set for medical ahead of big money move

Carl Starfelt is set to undergo a medical at Celtic ahead of a summer move, according to a report.

The defender is currently with Rubin Kazan in Russia but has agreed a move to the Hoops and a fee has now reportedly been agreed.

He’ll join Celtic for a fee worth €5m (£4.2m), and will be available for the Champions League clash with Midtjylland next week.

Swedish outlet SportExpressesn say the deal has been agreed after negotiations over the last few weeks and his medical will take place in Moscow.

It’s a huge boost for Ange Postecoglou with the Celtic boss desperate to get defenders in the door ahead of next week’s game.

The position is his priority while he also hopes to get full backs in the door in the coming days with reported bids for Brandon Soppy and Sacha Boey.

He’s already signed Sheffield Wednesday youngster Osaze Urhoghide who made his first appearance against Charlton, while Liam Shaw also joined in a deal that was arranged before the Aussie took over.

Israeli winger Liel Abada is also currently en route to the UK to undergo a medical before potentially joining the Celtic Park club.

The move could for Starfelt could also allowed Celtic to agree a fee to sell Kristoffer Ajer, with the Norwegian reportedly unhappy no bids have been accepted so far.
