Celtic address bottle incident at Rangers that allegedly left physio needing stitches

Celtic chief executive Michael Nicholson says there was no CCTV evidence to show how a physio at the Hoops found himself allegedly hit with a bottle during a game away at Rangers.

Goalkeeper Joe Hart also spotted a shard of glass on the pitch inside his penalty box during the derby match last season that was marred by objects being thrown during the game. A staffer at the Scottish Premiership champions then shared a photo on social media of an apparent cut on his head from the alleged incident.

With a sly dig at Rangers who were not named on his short address, Nicholson says 'the club in question' claimed there were no cameras in the vicinity to capture what happened on that day. Ange Postecoglou's men came from behind to win 2-1 on that day on their way to title glory but it's now been revisited at the Celtic AGM.

Nicholson said of the alleged incident: "I didn’t receive any update on how that got on the pitch. We were told there was no CCTV. It’s a poor show but we’ll discuss that with the club in question privately and appropriately."

Postecoglou said at the time: “It is disappointing because this is a game that gets beamed around the world and it stands on its own.

"You had two teams going at it in first and second spot and you don’t need a couple of idiots spoiling it.”
