Celtic accept Tom Rogic bid as midfielder prepares to leave club

Celtic have accepted a bid for Tom Rogic.

It was reported earlier this month that Celtic were close to agreeing a £4m deal with an unnamed Qatari club for the Australian's services, and now manager Neil Lennon has confirmed that the club have accepted a bid.

Lennon didn't specify who had submitted the bid or what amount had been accepted.

Speaking ahead of his side's match against Motherwell, Lennon said: "Negotiations are ongoing with Tom. We have accepted a bid.

"He is not fit at the moment, he has a slight ankle problem."

The 27-year-old has made 187 appearances since arriving at Celtic Park from Central Coast Mariners by in 2013, scoring 38 goals.

Among them was a goal at Hampden against Aberdeen that Celtic fans voted their fourth favourite of all time in June.

After their disappointing Champions League exit in midweek, Lennon's men return to domestic action this afternoon when they host Motherwell.

New signing David Turnbull could make his debut against the side who he left on Thursday. Odsonne Edouard, however, is likely to miss out again with a thigh strain.
