Celtic Aaron Ramsey transfer link as reports suggest Hoops set to face Ajax signing battle

Celtic have been linked with a move for Aaron Ramsey at the end of the season.

The 17-year-old Aston Villa prospect is out of contract at the end of the campaign and has been reportedly attracting the interest of a host of European clubs, including The Hoops and Dutch giants Ajax.

The teenager, whose brother Jacob broke into the Villa first team this year, is expected to be offered new terms by the Birmingham-based club, but as yet, no official contract has been put in front of the prodigious young talent.

Ramsey has represented England at under-17 level and Celtic hope the chance to develop alongside international teammates Tobi Oluwayemi and Karamoko Demeble could sway him towards Glasgow.

The Amsterdam club are also keeping a close eye on Ramsey's progress and could swoop when his contract expires in June.

The Daily Mail reports Ramsey is also being watched by a number of other clubs across Europe, though he was not involved when a young Villains side lost out to Liverpool last weekend.

Celtic are also rumoured to be interested in a move for Wigan Athletic teenager Kyle Joseph, however have been warned by the Latics that he will not be allowed to leave for a cut-price fee in January - despite his contract expiring at the end of the season.

The Athletic claim that Tottenham and Sheffield United have entered the race for the youngster, but Glasgow Live understand Rangers are not in the running for the rising star.

The report also suggests Wigan have placed a £1million asking price on the talisman and “are not desperate enough to sell someone whose goals could keep them in League One for significantly less than his value.”
