Celtic 5-0 Hearts: Daniel Stendel's side suffer thumping defeat after second half collapse

Hearts suffered a thumping defeat at the hands of league leaders Celtic following a second half collapse.

Olivier Ncham opened the scoring for the hosts in the first half following some more questionable Joel Pereira goalkeeping, however the Tynecastle side were still well in the game going into the break with just the one goal in it.

Any hopes of a tight second half were soon extinguished, however, with Christopher Jullien powering home from a Leigh Griffiths corner just seconds after the restart.

Callum McGregor made it three following a neat one-two with Greg Taylor before Ryan Christie linked up with Taylor to make it four – connecting well with his low cross.

Jozo Simunovic completed the scoring for Celtic, who themselves opened up a commanding lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership thanks to Rangers' defeat at Rugby Park.

Hearts' misery was compounded late on when sub Marcel Langer was sent off for a bad foul on Scott Brown.

The result leaves Daniel Stendel's side on the bottom of the table, one point behind Hamilton who lost out to Aberdeen on Tuesday evening.
