Celine Dion responds to body shamers: 'You can't please everyone'

Celine Dion has responded to critics intent on body shaming her, saying “you can’t please everyone”.

Entertainment Tonight Canada asked The My Heart Will Go On singer what she would say to the tabloids and critics who seek to diminish her achievements by focusing on her slim appearance.

Flexing her bicep, Dion replied, “Is there anything wrong about my body?

“I’ve always been very thin,” she said.

“I do ballet. I do a lot of stretching and I work out because it helps my mind, body and soul.”

The Canadian songstress added that she chooses to focus on the positives, adding, “If you don’t want to be criticised, you are in the wrong place.

“I take what’s good for me. I leave behind what is not good for me. I let my management take care of that, and if it hurts anyone, they will take care of that. And I need to focus on what’s right for me, how I feel and, last but not least, you can’t please everybody."

The multiple Grammy award winning artist also dropped a new video called Imperfections, which shows her removing her make-up and singing, “I’ve got my own imperfections”.

The balladeer was speaking at the beginning of her Courage Tour, which began last week and was initially due to run until April 2020.

A throat virus has meant that the Think Twice singer has had to postpone the next four dates of her tour, under strict doctor’s instructions to take two weeks of rest.

Her ailment has resulted in her extending the tour for a further five months until September 2020.

The It’s All Coming Back to Me Now star was keen to express her gratitude for her fans.

“I want [my fans] to know how much I appreciate the fact that they came to my invitation, in a way, which they accepted and they were absolutely amazing guests,” she said.

“I just wanted them to know that through the years, through my whole life… they have been there for me.”
