LOS ANGELES _ During her tribute to the late singer George Michael, pop superstar Adele stopped her performance and started again.
The singer, who was in the middle of performing Michael's 1996 song "Fastlove," paused and, with a look of sorrow on her face, cussed and said, "I'm sorry for swearing and I'm sorry for starting again. Can we please start again?"
She then apologized to Grammy executive producer Ken Ehrlich.
In the audience at Staples Center, Los Angeles Times writer Gerrick Kennedy said that Adele may have been distracted. The set up for the next performance was occurring as she was singing, and the noise may have distracted her.
When the performance was over, the Grammy winner put her hands over her face the moment the lights went down and shook her head.
The crowd in the arena was with her the whole way, said Kennedy, cheering her on as she powered through her second take.
And online, the internet rallied around the singer, with tweets of praise from "Modern Family's" Eric Stonestreet to Bette Midler.
Midler tweeted: "Adele taught us a all a great lesson just now. If it's not right? START OVER AND NAIL IT! And she did. Love you, girl."
