With the best intentions, Channel 4 splashed out a fortune whisking famous faces off to the Greek island of Crete to provide a stunning backdrop for some romantic dates.
Unfortunately, three cast members of Celebs Go Dating used it as an opportunity to sneak off during filming and go raving in Malia.
While one date was being filmed, three of the show’s other stars – former Love Islanders Jack Fincham and Megan Barton Hanson and TOWIE’s Demi Sims – ventured out of their five-star hotel to get stuck in to the party town’s local delicacies (shots and fish bowls).
Bosses were furious because they believed the celebs were watching the Love Island final, and as they are under E4’s duty of care, they are supposed to have security guards with them at all times.
One source said: “They were confronted by production when they crawled back in at 1am, and given a furious dressing down.
“It’s fine for them to go off and have fun – they’re not being kept under lock and key.
“But they are recognisable faces and Malia is a huge party town full of drunk revellers – anything could have happened.”
An on-set source added: “The celebrities are free to go wherever they please during free time.
"We do ask they check in with our production team so that we are aware of their whereabouts for their own safety.”
The show starts Monday, E4 at 9pm.
