Another Faithful was banished in Thursday’s episode of Celebrity Traitors, with Jonathan Ross surviving through the second week of the hit BBC reality series.
Traitors Jonathan, Alan Carr and Cat Burns began the fourth episode by “murdering” Ruth Codd, who had previously sought to target Jonathan in the round table debates.
The episode saw the contestants divided into two teams, and complete a challenge where they had to match “banshee wails” to their respective voices.
Stephen Fry was able to obtain a “shield” during the challenge, ensuring his safety, while Cat was able to snag one for herself.
At the next round table, Faithfuls were divided over who to banish, with the majority ultimately opting to get rid of Clare Balding.
The Traitors continues on Wednesday night at 9pm on BBC One.

ICYMI: This episode showed that Joe’s ‘Big Dog’ theory still threatens Jonathan’s survival on the series.
But what is it?

How the ‘big dog theory’ adds another fascinating layer to Celebrity Traitors
"No regrets"
23:30 , Louis ChiltonAnd from Ruth: “After the first round table, I was ready and determined to always voice my opinion.
“I knew it was probably going to get me murdered, but the guilt after Niko left made me think that I’m not going to go through the rest of the game feeling like this. I played honestly, true to my opinions and leave with no regrets.”
A few words from Clare’s exit interview: “I’ve had confirmed what I already knew, which is I am a rather pathetic people pleaser. I will still live by the mantra of keep your camera turned outwards, ie look out for other people, but I realise that I’m probably not.
“I’m not suspicious enough but I’m quite happy being that way. I’d rather live in a world where I trust everyone, where I see good in everyone, and where the world is always, bright, shiny and positive. And if that was my downfall, I’m fine with that.”
"The Paloma Theory"
22:28 , Louis ChiltonClare Balding giving an official name to her suspicions about Alan.
Look at her face when she found out just how right she was:

Clare holding a notebook titled “Times I was Right and Nobody Listened” lol.
(Incidentally, more people should keep long, written lists of grudges. Why should we let Richard Nixon have all the fun?)
Here’s an idea: I think Ruth and Joe Marler should give up their respective careers in sports and the arts and travel the country solving crimes. They’ve got the goods! Like if Columbo was British, and also two people
She was shrewd, was Ruth. Too shrewd. Very likeable contestant!
An interview with Ruth currently airing on Uncloaked. She twigged Jonathan and Cat, but seems genuinely stunned when she learns about Alan’s deception.
“He’s gonna need to move to Mexico when he gets out of here.”

Here’s some video of that send-off for Clare:
One thing I enjoy about these live blogs is being able to use caps lock with tabloidish abandon. WASN’T THAT DRAMATIC? I thought Jonathan was DONE FOR
And a cliffhanger! Again! God, that means there’s another six days to kill before more Traitors.
Stephen Fry quoting Macbeth. “There's no art to find the mind's construction in the face.”
Shakespeare didn’t prove much help in the round table, did it mate? Lots of sound and fury, but signifying a bad night for Clare Balding
“It’s my responsibility next time to ignore his deliciousness and stick to my guns.” LOL.

“How am I still here?”
I don’t know either.

There have been some comic, deliberate misspellings on the chalk boards this series, but I’m not sure that “Claire” was one of them...
It is endlessly amusing how utterly off-base everyone seems to be, when push comes to shove

Would anyone else have the guts to pull off such a “high-wire act”? They’re talking about Jonathan Ross like he’s Evel Knievel or something
They should’ve gone with Stephen’s idea and just gone in straight away... then again, a vote without these spiky little arguments isn’t exactly Great Television
It’s hotter than a two-dollar pistol around that table... for Jonathan at least

I actually suspect this might be it for Jonathan. Or is that just what the TV editors want me to think?
The Big Dog Theory (BDT) raises its head again!
Seeing Joe on this is really making me hanker for a Him & Her rewatch.

She’s good at thinking through all the angles, is Clare.

A big shield for a big dog! Don’t think anyone would have wanted Stephen Fry out this early...
She’s a top actor, Celia, and boy can you tell it when it comes to the wailing.
I mean, look at that face work:

God, Clare Balding always looks so LOCKED IN. That’s why she’s a pro!

If anyone’s searching for Jonathan’s exact outfits, meanwhile.... anyone? No?

Just in! More of Claudia’s exact outfits from this exact episode!!

Claudia Winkleman’s exact outfit from The Celebrity Traitors
Celia continuing her ongoing mission to provide the most memes-per-minute of anyone on screen...
“Match the locket with the wailing banshee.” Just another Thursday for us banshee-identifiers.
Remember his “Big dog theory”? You have to say, fair play - it’s more or less right on the money. That said, he’d be better off going with what I call the “Big Cat theory”. Just vote for Cat.
He might look like a big wall of muscle, but Joe’s turning out to have some of the shrewdest takes of this whole series

Reminder that Ruth called it last night, to be fair: “I’ve put a massive target on my back.”
There’s no fooling Celia...

“I think that’s got you off the hook” - so far so good for the ol’ double bluff routine. David seems like he’s onto it though...
Jonathan’s “Flintstones” outfit. No comment...

“Shut up Alan... if you could not bring up my greatest trauma” - Clare’s still not over it...
And we’re off!
Who’s playing the Traitors drinking game tonight? Take a swig every time Alan Carr nearly gives the game away. Four cases of Merlot should cover it...
Personally, I think they should go for Nick Mohammed next, as strategy-less payback for that godawful third season of Ted Lasso. But then again he was maybe the best thing about that Chicken Run sequel. They say there’s no river long enough that it doesn’t contain a bend…

Just a few minutes to go – who do we think’s getting murdered tonight?
Someone in the flat beneath me is drilling. DRILLING! At 8.50 in the evening! Don’t they know Celebrity Traitors is about to start?
This is your half hour klaxon!
Thirty more minutes until another instalment of lies, damned lies, and Jonathan Ross...

Helen Coffey’s piece on the genius of casting Alan Carr, undoubtedly the standout of this series, is well worth a read...

Right, as we count down the minutes to the new episode, I’m going to re-share a few of our best pieces about Celebrity Traitors so far.
First up, we have this great review of the series, by Katie Rosseinsky. (They liked it!)

The Celebrity Traitors review: It’s still the camp and menacing show we know and love
The 'big dog' theory, explained
18:21 , Louis ChiltonDuring yesterday’s episode, rugby player Joe Marler and comedian Joe Wilkinson put forward the theory that one of the two “big dogs” in the celebrity roster would have been selected as a Traitor – either Stephen Fry or Jonathan Ross.
They were onto something, of course... but the inclusion of Stephen actually served to draw some of the heat away from Jonathan.

'Gutted' and 'upset'

“I’m so upset... I even messed up my outro,” she said, adding she wanted to “cuss and carry on” and specifically call out actor Mark Bonnar, who strongly suspected her of being a traitor.

Who are the three celebrity Traitors?
14:30 , Jacob StolworthyHere’s your lowdown on the Traitors as picked by host Claudia Winkleman.

Alan Carr certainly seems to be growing in confidence as the series goes on... Here’s my colleague Helen Coffey’s ode to the greatest Celebrity Traitors contestant of all time (yes, there’s only been a handful of episodes, but we’re sticking to our guns).

So we know that in the civilian edition of The Traitors, the contestants take home the prize money themselves. But in the celeb version, the players are competing to win money for charity.
Greg Evans has the lowdown on the prize that the winner will receive (and the rumours about how much the stars are getting paid).

Niko Omilana on why he’s ‘embarrassed’ to be first star banished
13:00 , Jacob StolworthyYouTube star Omilana, known for his online prank videos, told Ead Gamble on Celebrity Traitors: Uncloacked he was embarrassed to be the first to go as he’s “going to be mocked for this for a long time by my friends”.
The star was wrongly suspected to be a Traitor by the majority of the contestants.

Jonathan Ross found Traitors experiece ‘uncomfortable’
12:30 , Jacob StolworthyAfter episode three, it’s a little bit easier to see why Jonathan Ross might have found the Traitors experience tricky. After all, he spent most of that instalment trying to brush off suspicion by lying to his fellow contestants. Admittedly, he did a pretty solid job, but it can’t have been easy.
Speaking on his podcast, he said that he struggled with “being on the defence” all the time. Then, in a Twitter/X post, he admitted that he “did not enjoy the duplicity as the game progressed”, and that the show was “a tougher psychological challenge than I expected”.

Tom Daley isn’t happy he was eliminated so soon
11:30 , Jacob StolworthyOlympic diver Tom Daley spoke out after being “murdered” by the Traitors.
“You know, it feels painful,” he said. “I went in there wanting to be a Traitor, mainly because I like control. But then as soon as I started playing as a Faithful, I loved that as well because then I wanted to regain as much control as possible.”
Daley added: “I’m a little disappointed that I’m out a bit early, but, at the same time, it was so much fun to be able to get a little bit of a glimpse into the Traitors world.
“I have had so much fun in there. Being able to just be with that group of people was so much fun, being able to have conversations with some really interesting people. I was having a great time.”

Celebrity Traitors star Tameka Empson has said she is “so upset” after being booted off the show – and revealed that she mucked up her banishment speech.
EastEnders actor Empson was the second contestant to be banished from the BBC show after YouTube prankster Niko Omilana was voted out earlier in the episode.
