Celebrity snapper spots his stolen car on CCTV after police close case

A celebrity photographer turned detective to hunt down his stolen Range Rover after police dropped the investigation within 48 hours.

Told that there was no chance of recovering his 4x4, David Hogan of Muswell Hill applied for CCTV footage from Transport for London and found it had been caught at least 14 times being driven on local streets.

As the Met confirmed it had reopened the investigation, Hogan, 59, said: “It’s like they’ve given up on car crime.”

The Range Rover, worth about £17,500, was stolen from outside his flat last month.

Police called him within two days of the theft being reported to say it was “unlikely that it will be possible to identify those responsible”.

Scotland Yard said: “Although the case was assessed and closed on Monday, July 27, it was reopened on July 29 after officers spoke with the victim and learned of new evidence.”

No arrests have been made.
