The latest stars of Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins were dealt a nasty hand in a brutal first task which saw them puke and choke.
The new series of the demanding reality TV show saw the new crop undergo a painstaking gas challenge which tested their strength and endurance. The group had to follow orders while being exposed to CS gas after being told to remove their masks.
The test saw the stars, including Maisie Smith, Ferne McCann and Pete Wicks gag as they battled through the chamber. Soldier Billy Billingham told viewers the test feels like "being choked, strangled" and said it can feel like you're dying.
He said: "It's absolutely petrifying". And Calum Best also described the ordeal as being "f***ing horrendous".
Former TOWIE star Pete admitted he'd probably be one of the weakest at the task and only lasted a number of seconds before quitting the tough ask.
While the stars were left in a state from the events, viewers were quick to take to social media to express their thoughts. One Twitter user wrote: "Finding this CS gas challenge really hard to watch."
Another admitted it wasn't for them, saying: "I wouldn't do that, no way," while a third said it did make for good viewing. They wrote: "The gas challenge is fkn brutal but funny for us viewers."
The latest episode was full of the usual tough tasks for the contestants elsewhere too. At one point, the crew harshly punished the new recruits for failing to keep their water bottles filled up at all times.
Three of the new recruits failed the mission, leaving them all to do push ups. They were then brutally tasked with jogging on the spot in the middle of the night while officers shouted at them.
So hard was the current series, Ferne has came out and described giving birth as being easier than the show.
The 32-year-old said she was reduced to tears every day and considered quitting the tough Channel 4 show, in which stars are pushed to their limits in gruelling military-style training exercises.
She told The Mirror: "I know that it sounds bloody ridiculous, but this life-changing course has, without doubt, changed me. Without doubt, it’s going to make me better in my relationship and better as a parent because I’ve now learned boundaries and discipline."
