Celebrity MasterChef fans 'fuming' as stars fail simple cooking challenge

Celebrity MasterChef fans admitted they felt a little cheated by the latest episode of the BBC show.

Oti Mabuse, Joey Essex, Neil Ruddock and Dame Sandra Rhodes took on the latest challenge, ahead of a double elimination.

For the first of the new tasks, the girls teamed up and the boys teamed up to create two different egg and bread based dishes.

Neil and Joey were making French toast stuffed with crab and spinach, while Sandra and Oti created poached eggs with salmon, hollandaise sauce on muffins.

But both teams quickly began to struggle, before Joey and Oti were forced to make a confession.

Oti revealed she'd never made poached eggs before and had no idea how to cook them.

Joey, meanwhile, also hit a blip when it came to making the French toast.

Joey Essex only 'egged' one side of the bread (BBC)

Not only did he keep burning the bread, he eventually only doused one side of it with the egg.

He got flustered as he admitted he was "confused", unable to understand which parts of the bread to egg.

The communication between partners was hard due to there being a wall of sorts between them, meaning both teams kept struggling.

Joey then burnt his toast (BBC)

Taking to Twitter , viewers were confused at why the stars had been signed up for the show, if they couldn't cook eggs or toast.

One fan tweeted: "Both teams struggled to make toast and poach an egg. How did they possibly think they could do this?" while a second said: "I'm f***ing fuming over that poached egg dude!"

Another asked: "Never poached an egg before...?" as a fourth said: "They cant even poach an egg or make French toast so that was never going to happen !"

Celebrity MasterChef continues on Friday at 9pm on BBC One.
