Celebrity Leeds United fan raises thousands in Parkinson's UK fundraiser

Former Sky Sports favourite Dave Clark has raised a staggering amount of money to support Parkinson’s UK walking the length of Hadrian’s Wall

For many years, the presenter, born in Ilkley, has been an inspiration to many in the way he’s continued working despite his Parkinson’s disease diagnosis. In the summer, Dave, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2011, announced he was stepping back from his role presenting Sky’s darts coverage.

He’s been using his spare time to enjoy more moments with his family and this month he’s also been taking on a mammoth fundraiser in aid of Parkinson’s UK.

He’s been doing a 90 mile trek, the length of Hadrian’s Wall, from Wallsend to finishing near Carlisle.

Dave said: “My 10 years living with Parkinson’s means walking is becoming increasingly difficult. I also had knee replacement surgery a year ago.

“Parkinson’s could eventually rob me of the ability to walk, talk and smile, it’s a one way street, there’s no cure. I’m reliant upon my medication three times a day to keep me moving. The pills I’m on were discovered more than 50 years ago. I think we can do better.

“I know these are tough times, but if you can help me to help Parkinson’s UK fund a cure that would be fab.”

The popular Dave, who is one of many celebrity Leeds United supporters, set out to raise £10,000 but has raised £35,000 in donations so far. The TV star completed his fundraiser on Tuesday.

We are sure you’ll agree, Dave, has put in such a great effort. If you’d like to sponsor him you can by visiting his JustGiving page.
