Celebrity 'I Take Responsibility' video on racism gets mixed response

Stars have taken part in a new video for a campaign called ITakeResponsibility, calling out ways they've ignored or minimized racist behavior in the past.

The video, featuring celebrities including Kristen Bell, Sarah Paulson and Stanley Tucci, reacts to the Black Lives Matter protests that have been sweeping the world - but the response to the video has been mixed, with some praising the stars and others comparing the video to Gal Gadot's well-intentioned but tone-deaf group rendition of 'Imagine.'

The black and white video sees stars say 'I take responsibility' and discuss incidents of racism they have ignored or explained away.

Debra Messing, Julianne Moore and Piper Perabo also make appearances. At the end of the video, all of the actors announce they "stand against hate."

One commenter accused the celebrities of making a "white savior film."

Other comments include, "they've been out of work for a few months and need to *ACT*," "What are they auditioning for? Ending Racism: The Musical" and "how did Haley from one tree hill scheme her way into this tf."

One person wondered why no-one could memorize their lines. Others asked if the celebrities had donated to Black Lives Matter causes.

Many people also commented on the plethora of ring light reflections visible.

However, a few argued the video was no 'Imagine' - explaining they would rather these actors were allies.

Another commenter added sarcastically, "Oh my gosh racism is over thank you actors."
