Celebrity Gogglebox stars brutally mock Phillip Schofield's This Morning exit

Celebrity Gogglebox returned to our screens with the host of star TV viewers commentating on recent highlights from the small screen.

There were some familiar faces on the season five opener, with the likes of favourites Shaun Ryder and his Happy Mondays bandmate Bez, Nick and Liv Grimshaw and Martin and Roman Kemp all returning to the fold.

But there were plenty of new celebrities offering their opinions as TV presenter Davina McCall and boyfriend Michael Douglas, singer Tom Grennan joining his dad Martin on the sofa and models Munroe Bergdorf and Leomie Anderson also chatting about the TV programmes and films.

The episode dived straight into the deep end as they watched an instalment of This Morning, which aired shortly after Phillip Schofield's departure from This Morning following his affair scandal.

Last month, Phillip admitted to having cheated on his wife, Stephanie, with a young male colleague who he worked alongside on the daytime magazine show.

Phillip presented his final episode of This Morning on Thursday, May 18, with ITV confirming his immediate exit just two days later. He subsequently parted ways from ITV and his management company.

Despite the furore surrounding the disgraced presenter simmering down in recent weeks, it did not stop the celebrities from being vocal while watching an episode of the ITV daytime show.

Friday hosts Dermot O'Leary and Alison Hammond were presenting a segment on rave therapy, which got all the celebrities engaged.

After the therapist got the co-presenters to 'seat rave', they then stood up to dance to 90s club hits as the pair donned light-up sunglasses and bucket hats.

Many of the celebrities also joined in with the rave therapy from their sofas, while others opted to be unmoved.

One who did not join in was comedian Rob Beckett, who sat also fellow stand-up star Tom Allen.

As he watched Dermot and Alison bouncing on his TV screen, he bluntly said: "I'm starting to feel that Schofield got the better deal here."

The cameras panned to This Morning's production office as they raved along to the music as the comedian duo came out with more quips.

Rob said: "Look at that," before Tom interjected: "There's no windows in their office." Rob replied: "You don't want to see what's going on that's why."

Nick and Liv Grimshaw joked about This Morning work staff (channel 4)

Former Radio 1 DJ Nick Grimshaw was also quick to comment on the dancing office staff. He remarked: "Normally they are being shouted at and today they are allowed to have a dance," which had his niece Liv in stitches.

Comedian Katherine Ryan, alongside fiancé Bobby Kootstra, quipped about the show's alleged 'toxic' atmosphere.

She said: "See, they're like 'what toxic work environment? Look how non-toxic we are'."

Liv Grimshaw commented: "Is that all the people that work at This Morning? I thought they'd be more." Nick responded: "Oh everyone's been fired, haven't they."

Rob finished the episode in typical comic fashion, he said: "And some people say This Morning is in crisis."
