Maureen Lipman has revealed exactly why she walked off Celebrity Gogglebox during filming last year.
The actress, who is now a Dame, was known to millions of viewers as Beatrice Bellman 'Beatie' in the famous BT adverts of the late 80s and is currently on screen as Tyrone's grandma Evelyn Plummer in Coronation Street.
Maureen, 75, teamed up with long-time friend and regular This Morning guest Gyles Brandreth to go on Celebrity Gogglebox but took exception to one of the shows - Naked Attraction - which prompted her to get off the sofa and leave the room.
The Channel 4 show involves male and female singles picking potential partners by looking at their private parts, before getting to see them in full and then get naked themselves.
Speaking at the time, she said: "Without question, the worst thing we watch is Naked Attraction.
"It’s a long time since I’ve seen five uncircumcised penises all in a row. And I hope it’s a long time before I see them again.”
"With the willies, I walked out of the room."
The topic of Naked Attraction came up again on Thursday as Maureen and Gyles promoted the new series on This Morning, with host Alison Hammond remarking: "you wasn't a fan of that show then?"
Maureen replied: "that was when I started to get the idea of the programme. I realised that they wanted me to be squeamish about these appendages.
"And I just thought 'no my life is too short dears' to spend it looking at these things.
"I mean who was there on the day of the pitch when the guy said 'look naked appendages...let's do it?!'
Agreeing with Maureen, one This Morning viewer tweeted: "Absolutely right, Maureen Lipman! Who on earth okayed naked attraction & why are we dumbing our people down?! The UK has gone to pot. Obsessed with c**p."
