Celebrity Bake Off viewers baffled over Anne-Marie's scone confession

Four brand new celebrities were in the Great British Bake Off tent last night - all for a good cause.

The Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer continued on Channel 4 with singer Anne-Marie, actor James McAvoy, athlete Dame Kelly Holmes and comedian David Baddiel all taking part this week.

However, Anne-Marie had viewers talking on social media, leaving them baffled over her scone confession.

The celebrities were tasked by Prue Leith to make cheese scones in the technical challenge.

But The Voice UK coach turned and said to the camera: "What’s a cheese scone?"

Anne-Marie the cracked on with Prue's very brief instructions before admitting to having never had a scone before.

And viewers couldn't believe it.

“@AnneMarie Not knowing what a scone was! Someone needs to treat that girl to a nice afternoon tea #su2c #GBBO," wrote one.

Another said: "Anne-Marie didn’t know what a scone was? Where has she lived all her life? #GBBO."

"Anne-Marie didn’t know what a scone was before the challenge…. Please tell me she’s joking. #gbbo," a third added.

A fourth stunned viewer added: "Sorry, did Anne Marie say she didn’t know what a scone was? #GBBO."

And we're not even going to get into the pronunciation debate.

Despite not knowing what one was beforehand, Anne-Marie finished in second place for the technical challenge.

But it was James who emerged victorious and was crowned Star Baker following three rounds of intense baking.
