Celebrities, world leaders post their photos with Queen Elizabeth II as they mourn her death at 96

Celebrities and world leaders have been quick to pay tribute to Queen Elizabeth II, with many posting photos of themselves with the late monarch.

Buckingham Palace announced the death of the Queen at age 96 overnight. She had reigned since 1952.

Among those to share photos are former US presidents Barack Obama and George W Bush, pop star Janet Jackson, Australian model and businesswoman Elle Macpherson and My Big Fat Greek Wedding star Nia Vardalos.

Rock stars Mick Jagger and Ozzy Osbourne and actor Helen Mirren are among the celebrities who have paid tribute to the Queen by posting written condolences online.

Musician Elton John, who has been photographed with the Queen on occasion, posted a message on a black background saying he would "miss her dearly".

And months after Paddington Bear and the Queen starred in a sketch for the Platinum Jubilee concert, a Twitter post from Paddington's official account that has a message for the late monarch has been retweeted more than 105,000 times.

The Queen's body is expected to lie in state ahead of her funeral at Westminster Abbey.
