JAIPUR: A youth sustained a bullet injury and later succumbed to it following a celebratory firing of guns in the air at a pre-wedding function at Puroni ka Pura village under Sepau police station area of Dholpur on Sunday evening.
Police are yet to find those responsible for the firing. They have found some footage of the function from the photographer and are trying to identify those who had fired.
According to police, a large number of guests, family members and relatives gathered for the pre-wedding function. “At the function, a youth, identified as Ashok Kushwah, was present. When the youths were dancing, some people opened fire. Ashok sustained a bullet wound and fainted. He was rushed to a hospital where he succumbed,” said an officer with the Sepau police station.
Soon after the incident, the police were informed. “Many people fled from the function. Nobody knows who opened the fire. We will go through the video footage of the function,” the officer added.
Asked if it was merely firing in the air or intentional, a senior officer said, “It appears to be an accident. But we will not conclude until we find out those who fired are identified and arrested. Since one person has died, it becomes murder. We have registered a case under Section 302 of the IPC.”
