Premium coffee brand Carte Noire has teamed up with Everyman to bring a collection of intense cinema to London’s film lovers throughout the summer.

Clouds of Sil Maria
The Film Collection launched on 20 May with a special screening event of Clouds of Sils Maria at Everyman’s Screen on the Green in Islington. Written and directed by French director, screenwriter and film critic Olivier Assayas, the richly detailed drama has met with wide acclaim with powerful performances by Juliette Binoche, Kristen Stewart and Chloë Grace Moretz.

The Connection
Next up was an exclusive preview of Cédric Jimenez’s captivating French crime thriller The Connection at Everyman Canary Wharf on 28 May. Delving into real events that took place in Marseille’s murky 1970s underworld, the film stars The Artist’s Jean Dujardin in a rare straight role as a magistrate.

Les Combattants (Love at First Fight)
The third event witnessed a screening of the charming romantic comedy Les Combattants (Love at First Fight), the debut feature film from director Thomas Cailley. The film launched at last year’s Cannes film festival and won the César’s top acting honour for its female star Adèle Haenel. A likeable rite-of-passage piece, it’s set in a small town in south-west France. Details of the screening will follow.

Gemma Bovery
The next screening in our series features French-British comedy drama, Gemma Bovery. Martin, a baker in a sleepy Norman village, often hankers after his old life in Paris. But when a young couple moves into the area – whose names and behaviour bear a striking resemblance to the works of his favourite author, Gustave Flaubert – his active imagination is fired. Gemma Arterton plays the insouciant lead to perfection in this sumptuous drama based on Posy Simmond’s graphic novel.

Don’t miss your chance to attend an exclusive screening of Gemma Bovery at the Everyman Cinema in Hampstead. Taking place on Monday 17th August 2015 from 8pm, the evening will also feature a Q&A session with the film’s director, Anne Fontaine. Book your tickets here.

Come back soon to find out what other films will be screened in this collection by Carte Noire and Everyman. Tickets cost £17 and include delicious Carte Noire coffee-infused cocktails and the chance to watch the premium coffee brand’s new short film Le Baiser (The Kiss) before the main screening. Celebrating the current wave of cinematic intensity that is emerging from Europe, Le Baiser (The Kiss) is directed by Jamie Muir, a young filmmaker from London with a passion for raw storytelling. The short film’s cinematography pays homage to the great directors of the French New Wave.
